May 15

I hope all the mothers and mother figures had a wonderful Mother’s Day.

We are drawing near the end of the testing season and the school year. You all have worked really hard to get our students prepared to represent their learning from the year on the MAP and Galileo test. Thank you for all the hard work and dedication to learning this school year. As we prepare for the next 9 days please keep the academic challenge up in your classrooms. If the academic challenge falls off, we will see a rise in discipline in all areas of the school. During this time, students will try their very best to get out of the classroom for various reasons, students will tell their parents that we are not doing anything at school and more. The message we are telling our students and parents is that school is not over and we are still learning. When students want to leave for various reasons, the universal answer is NO. We are still holding students to high expectations both academically and behaviorally. If we continue to do so we will have a wonderful 9 days of school.

Celebrations

Thank you to all that help make Teacher Appreciation Week a success.

Instructional

PLT Team Meetings:
We are moving from Question 1 to Question 2 of the PLC Questions.

What do we want our kids to learn? (Essential Standards, Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum)

How do we know they learned it? ( Data, Common Formative Assessments, Formatives, Summative)

What do we do when they don’t? (Interventions-Tier 2 and Tier 3)

What do we do when they do? (Extensions and Enrichments)

Objectives should be posted somewhere permanently in the room and those objectives should be referred to often to maximize student learning.
