Learning Walks

We completed Middle School learning walks right before we ended for break. We had some great conversations around the great things our peers are doing and how we could incorporate a version of those great things into your classrooms. Please take a moment to fill out this 3 question feedback form on how we can make this process better for future

Elementary Learning Walk will be in January

Study Skills Class (Middle School)

Teachers as you begin to think about next semester classes and what that looks like. I want to give you information about a potential change. Our intervention team has been working really hard to come up with a recommendation of what intervention will look like in our building. They are in the final stages and hope to have things ready to present to the Guiding Coalition by the 1st week in January. If approved this will go into effect January 23, 2023. So plan for your Study Skills class throughout this time.

  • 6th Grade Math

  • 8th Grade Math

1st Posting is where SPS makes jobs available to current district employees before they are made public for others. The window is Jan. 4th-Jan 14th

Galileo Results

We should have Galileo results school wide soon. We will go through this data as we did after the BOY. Hopefully we see a lot of improvement between the BOY and MOY. Let's CELEBRATE  the growth and encourage our students to continue to make academic progress.

IEP Meetings

We as educators are required by law to attend IEP meetings. If an invite is sent to you please respond to that invite. This is a great opportunity to share progress as well as areas of concern with the IEP team.

The goal is to learn, uplift, and validate our colleagues for the amazing things they are doing in their classroom everyday. This will be done with a member of Admin team during PLT time. The form being used can be found HERE. We will come to you and take you on the visit.

The MOY Galileo assessment went really well last week. We will start make-up testing this week so be looking for communication from Mrs. Lannholm about the specifics.

Building D/F Building Expectation

  • Progress Reports went home on Thursday Dec. 1st. If a student is failing your class with a D or F, you should make contact home with the parents via phone call first. Email should be a secondary method. This is a great opportunity to make a personal connection and get them set up with Home Access Center so they can monitor grades regularly.

HERE is a link about the importance of making parent phone calls as well as a template of how to do that.

ELD Grading

If you have an English Learner (EL) student who is at risk of receiving a D/F by mid-quarter (November 18th), reach out to our ELD Specialist, Hannah Swearengin, so she can collaborate with you about grading guidance.  As a reminder, per federal law, it is required that teachers of EL students provide accommodations and modifications to enable students to succeed in the classroom. Documentation of accommodations/modifications is recommended. The ELD department has created a form that will guide these conversations and provide a way for you to document the evidence of accommodations and modifications.

We want to make sure we provide support for you and your students prior to semester grading.
